Keynote: Shane Kim, Corporate Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, Interactive Entertainment Business
Recipient of CIE Seattle’s 2009 Luminary Award for Outstanding Leadership
After four and a half years of spearheading the transformation of Microsoft Game Studios into a world-class games publisher, Shane Kim recently accepted a new assignment as corporate vice president of Strategy and Business Development for the Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB). Kim will focus on strategic planning for the business as well as key partnerships that mobilize the group's strategy.
Previously, as the corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios, Kim oversaw a team of approximately 1,000 programmers, designers, artists and producers developing a broad range of Xbox 360 and Windows titles for Microsoft Game Studios.
In this role, Kim led the delivery of many of the industry's biggest Xbox 360 and Windows games franchises, including "Halo," "Age of Empires," "Fable," "Flight Simulator," "Gears of War," "Project Gotham Racing," "Forza Motorsport" and "Zoo Tycoon." Under his leadership, Metacritic data shows that Microsoft Game Studios led all game publishers in overall portfolio quality from 2005 to 2007.
Kim holds a bachelor's degree in economics and international relations from Stanford University, where he also played intercollegiate volleyball. He went on to receive an MBA from Harvard Business School. Kim is married and is the father of two children.
